# Apify

Use Apify Actors for web research and scraping in your Notara workflows, using your own Apify account. Connect your Apify API key in a paid workspace; Apify bills usage separately to that account. Notara does not provide an Apify key or include Apify usage in the platform fee.

## What It Enables

| Tool | Capability | Description |
| ------------------------- | ---------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `apify_search_actors` | `read` | Search the Apify Store for scraping and automation Actors by keyword |
| `apify_run_actor` | `write` | Run an Actor synchronously and return its dataset items |
| `apify_get_dataset_items` | `read` | Fetch items from an existing Apify dataset by ID |

`apify_run_actor` uses your connected Apify account. Each call is capped at 50 paid items and a maximum charge; keep `maxItems` small. Your Actor and Apify plan determine the upstream cost.

## Setup

**Required:** Your own Apify account and API token, plus a paid Notara workspace. Hosted Slack/chat and scheduled AI runs also require your model provider key; external MCP clients supply their own model.

**Where to find it:** [console.apify.com → Settings → Integrations → API tokens](https://console.apify.com/settings/integrations)

1. In the Notara dashboard, go to **Tools → Browse catalog**.
2. Click the **Apify** tile.
3. In the Apify console, go to **Settings → Integrations** and create or copy a personal API token.
4. Paste the token into the credential field and click **Connect**.

Your API token is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.

## Workflow use and billing

After connecting Apify, enable the required tools for the workflow and its execution context. Tool permissions still apply. Runs and datasets belong to the connected Apify account.

Free does not include connected tool execution. Public research runners and result imports on the Notara website remain paused; example pages do not provide free Apify runs.

Notara-funded Apify workflows are not currently offered. The generic connector accepts Actor inputs and dataset IDs, so a shared account would need additional controls to separate customer runs and storage.

## Example Prompts

> "Search Apify for an Instagram profile scraper and show me the top results."

> "Run the apify/instagram-profile-scraper for @nike and return 20 posts."

> "Pull the latest results from Apify dataset abc123xyz."
