# Free plan

Free gives a small team a shared workspace for company knowledge and skills, used from your own AI client over MCP. There is no card, no trial countdown, and no model key needed in Notara.

## Limits

Your usage against each limit is shown on the dashboard home and under **Settings → Billing**.

## What counts as an MCP context request

A context request is one call from your AI client to Notara: listing or reading a skill prompt, searching your libraries, or reading a document. A single answer can make several calls. Both people in the workspace share the monthly total, and it resets on the first of each month (UTC).

## Skills on Free

* Write skills in the app or import a `SKILL.md` file or zipped skill folder.
* Every skill is versioned and shared with everyone in the workspace.
* Your AI client sees the workspace's own skills as MCP prompts. Built-in library skills do not appear on Free until you copy one into the workspace, and each copy counts toward the 5.
* At the limit, creating, importing or copying a skill is refused. Delete a skill or upgrade to add another.

## People on Free

* The workspace holds 2 people: you and one teammate.
* An open invite takes the second place until it is accepted, revoked or expires (invites expire after 7 days).
* To invite someone else, revoke the pending invite or remove a member, or upgrade.

## What Free does not include

* Groups
* Connected tools (Linear, GitHub, HubSpot and the rest of the catalog), including Firecrawl, Perplexity and Apify
* The Slack bot and hosted Notara chat
* Scheduled workflows and webhooks
* Approvals and the admin audit log

Over MCP, Free connections can use skill prompts and the context tools. Other tool calls are refused with an upgrade message.

## When you reach a limit

Nothing is deleted. The action that would go over the limit is refused, and the app tells you which limit you hit and how to free up room. MCP requests over the monthly allowance are refused until the next month or until you upgrade.
