# Billing

Notara has two plans: **Free** and the paid **Notara platform**. Neither plan includes AI model usage. Your AI client or your own model API key supplies the model, and your provider bills you for it directly.

## What you pay for separately

* **Model usage.** External MCP clients (Claude Code, Cursor and others) use their own model and bill you through that client. The Slack bot, Notara chat and scheduled workflows use the model API key you save in Notara ([BYOK](/notara-docs/byok.md)). Notara does not add a markup and does not meter tokens against a credit allowance.
* **Apify.** Apify-powered workflows require your own Apify API key in a paid workspace. Apify bills usage to your account. See [Apify setup](/notara-docs/connectors/apify.md).
* **Firecrawl and Perplexity** can use Notara-provided keys on paid workspaces, subject to fair use. If you connect your own key instead, the provider bills you.
* **Expert help** (setup, installation, maintenance) is optional and quoted separately.

## Upgrading from Free

1. Go to **Settings → Billing** and click **Upgrade**, or follow the **Upgrade** link on any plan-limit notice.
2. Complete the Stripe checkout.
3. Your skills, libraries, documents and MCP connections carry over. Paid features unlock as soon as payment is confirmed.

## Seats

A seat is a person formally added to the workspace, in any role. The $149 base price includes one seat. Each additional seat is $29/month. Slack users who talk to the bot but are not workspace members do not use a seat.

Check your seat count under **Settings → Billing**.

## Managing your subscription

Subscription management lives in **Settings → Billing**:

* **Current plan**: plan name, status and next billing date
* **Plan limits**: on Free, usage against each limit (people, skills, documents, text, MCP requests)
* **Payment method and invoices**: **Manage Billing** opens the Stripe Customer Portal

## Cancellation

1. Go to **Settings → Billing → Manage Billing**.
2. In the Stripe portal, click **Cancel Plan**.
3. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period.
4. After the period ends, the workspace is deactivated: the bot stops responding and the dashboard becomes read-only.

Your data is retained for 90 days after cancellation. Contact <support@notara.ai> to request a data export or permanent deletion.
